The Department of Defense has identified 3,216 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans yesterday:

SPARKS, Gina R., 35, Staff Sgt., Army; Drury, Mo.; 115th Field Hospital, Warrior Brigade.

WINSTON, Peter E., 56, Lt. Col., Army; Plant City, Fla.; 143rd Sustainment Command.
