The Department of Defense has identified 3,731 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans yesterday:

BUTKUS, Jason M., 34, Staff Sgt., Army; West Milford, N.J.; First Infantry Division.

NELSON, Andrew P., 22, Staff Sgt., Army; Moorhead, Minn.; 82nd Airborne Division.

SCHEIBNER, Daniel E., 40, Sgt. First Class, Army; Muskegon, Mich.; Second Infantry Division.
