Atapuerca video on the Web
This is from Rick Pettigrew, head of The Archaeology Channel. Having visited Atapuerca and written about the site for Science, I can particularly recommend a visit to this site to view the video: Friends and colleagues: The discovery of human fossils in Spanish caves has revolutionized our understanding of the earliest Europeans. This remarkable story and some cutting-edge research are featured in Atapuerca, the latest video feature on our nonprofit streaming-media Web site, The Archaeology Channel (_http://www.archaeologychannel.org_ http://www.archaeologychannel.org/) ). The gently rolling hills of the Sierra de Atapuerca in Spain hold many limestone caves used by humans for almost one million years. Using lots of computer 3D graphics, this documentary brings us face to face with discoveries made over the last twenty years at archaeological sites there. These discoveries include a remarkable group of 30 individuals who lived 400,000 years ago. The Atapuerca has yielded the oldest human fossils in Europe and is the only place in the world where human life is evidenced continuously over the last million years. This and other programs are available on TAC for your use and enjoyment. We urge you to support this public service by participating in our Membership (_http://www.archaeologychannel.org/member.html_ (http://www.archaeologychannel.org/member.html) ) and Underwriting (_http://www.archaeologychannel.org/sponsor.shtml_ (http://www.archaeologychannel.org/sponsor.shtml) ) programs. Only with your help can we continue and enhance our nonprofit public-education and visitor-supported programming. We also welcome new content partners as we reach out to the world community. Please forward this message to others who may be interested and let us know if you wish to be removed from our mailing list. Richard M.
